Yellow Lines

Hey guys, I realize it’s been a while since my last blog post. I’ve been on this super busy highway called life. Moments are just zipping past me and before I know it, a good hundred miles have gone under my feet. You know something I’ve realized lately… It’s that when we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of things, we really start relying on ourselves. We forget about the one who created the highway and just focus on the obstacle ahead and try to see how quickly we can pass it. We don’t even see God trying to guide us with the yellow lines. We zip back and forth, in and out often putting ourselves in great danger. Sometimes I think we need to just slow down, and wait for God to give us that next passing lane. Because honestly maybe He doesn’t want you pass this obstacle just yet. Maybe He has something really beautiful to show you or He could even be protecting you from something up ahead. Let’s slow down and trust those yellow lines to guide us back home. There is no need to be in such a crazy rush. No matter what the end destination is still the same.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. -Isaiah 40:31

Don’t Bark, It Just Might Hurt

pup

The other night our dog was going absolutely ballistic in the middle of the night and my husband reluctantly dragged himself out of bed to go and shush her before she woke the baby. Never mind the rest of the town. What does this have to do with anything you might ask? Just stick with me for a minute or two and I’ll tell you.

So when the husband got to the door and gruffly told our pup (let’s call her Lady) to come to him, she refused. Lady knew what she had earned. Hubby then changed his tone and this time, sweetly called to her. After a bit, she stood at his feet. Hey, I know this was deceiving and maybe not the right way, but come on it was late at night and we weren’t taking the chance of our little waking up. Anyway Miss. Lady got a good smack and she didn’t make a peep again after that. Lesson was learnt and all was well. Pup went to sleep, baby kept sleeping and mom and dad got their much-needed rest. Now I’ll get to the moral of the story.

We often react to a sin when we first encounter it the same way as our little pup, Lady reacted to my husband’s first call. The sin seems so repulsive and dangerous right off the bat so we stay far, far away. But then little Mr. satan comes sidling along and sweetly whispers in your ear. “Oh it’s not that bad, come on, just do it, you’ll love it. It won’t hurt.” (I am in no way, shape or form insinuating that my husband is like the devil. Just thought I would clarify that. lol) Slowly, bit by bit you soften up and start inching toward the sin. Just like pretty Lady fell for the sweet tone of my husband’s voice.  Before you know it your standing smack dab at the feet of the sin. Yeah you know whats coming…….WHAM……….you get a smack on the nose. It hurts! Your nose smarts and tears well up in your eyes. But I can’t say I feel sorry for you, I can feel with you but I don’t sympathize. It’s what we get when we fall for satan’s devious tricks. He always lies and sweet talks but the end results are always the same. They sting! But if we’re smart, just like Lady was after that, we will stay far away from even falling into that same trap again. Just look the other way when sin stares into our snout or face whichever works best for you. Haha. Don’t even bother barking at it. It just might bite back.
